India Gate Delhi – Why is It made?
(India Gate Delhi ) It is located in Delhi, India’s capital Delhi. It is a large gate whose height is 43 meters. On its walls are the names of 13300 soldiers. These were Indian soldiers who fought for the British government in World War I. It was built by the British government in memory of the soldiers .It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1921.This large gate is located on Rajpath Road in Delhi.The foundation stone of India Gate was laid on February 10, 1921 in the presence of senior officers and soldiers of India. After 10 years of establishing the India Gate, it was completed on February 12, 1931.
This is the national monument of Independent India, which was formerly called Kingsway.After India’s independence, it has remained the site of the tomb of unknown soldiers of the Indian Army. Amar Jawan Jyoti has been installed under its arches.On this Amar Jawan Jyoti, every year, the Prime Minister and the three Chiefs of the President present their tributes by offering floral chakras.In memory of the unnamed soldiers, a cap of a soldier is placed here on a rifle, on whose four corners a flame always burns. Here the flag of the three army is waving proudly. A canoe located approximately 150 meters away from the India Gate. It was also designed by Sir Edwin Sir Edwin Lutyens. The names of thousands of martyr soldiers on the walls of India Gate are written and above all are written in English:
To the dead of the Indian armies who fell honoured in France and Flanders Mesopotamia and Persia East Africa Gallipoli and elsewhere in the near and the far-east and in sacred memory also of those whose names are recorded and who fell in India or the north-west frontier and during the Third Afgan War.
Canopy at India gate
This canopy designed by Edwin Lutyens was built to install the statue of George V. George V was the British ruler who received the title of Emperor of India. It was created in 1936 after the death of the emperor. Canopy was unveiled in 1939. Although samples of this structure can be found in Europe, it has many similarities with Canopy of Mahabali Puram. The main part of the pillars is of particular Indian form, which the LT is specially prepared for New Delhi. The massive marble statue of George V, designed by Charles Jaeger, was removed after a few years of independence. This statue is now in Coronation Park.
All roads in Delhi pass through the India Gate. Millions of people visit here in the year. It never close, it is open 24 hours daily. There are a lot of people who see it. Parade On India gate
On January 26, the parade is taken every year on India Gate. Here the prime ministers of India are present and they enjoy the whole parade. Visitors come from far away to see the parade. After the parade, the national anthem of India is sung. Those who do not come to India Gate, they enjoy only on television because the Parade is shown live on TV.
